uses and care for clay

USES

Clay is used in a variety of products, whether it is in its raw form or mixed with other ingredients. Bluestone Clay's products can fit your every want and need.

Why use clay? You can find out in our About section.

3 suggested uses for our natural, powdered cosmetic Bluestone Clay products:

CLAY MASKS

All it takes is a scoop of your Bluestone Clay pouch powder mixed with a little bit of water to form a soft, smooth, paste you can then spread evenly on your face.

For more guidance and instructions, refer to the Care section below.

Alternatively, use our Earth 'n' Sea Clay Mask products - with your choice of our raw clay as the base mixed into a smooth cream and an additional earthy scent.

CLAY BODY MASKS

Similar to a face mask, take your Bluestone Clay pouch power and mix it with water to form a soft, smooth, paste - but this time apply an even layer wherever you wish on your body!

From head to toes, your skin will thank you for the extra attention and care.

For more guidance and instructions, refer to the Care section below.

CLAY BATHS

Take 1-4 scoops of your Bluestone Clay pouch powder and mix it with water in a bowl with your hand so it forms a wet clay. Then you can either spread the wet clay over your body, or simply hop in the bathtub and squish the wet clay mix with yours hands into the bathtub water.

This homemade nature bath will be sure to leave every inch of your skin feeling soft and revitalized.

CARE

Instructions for use, storage, and care for our Green Gemstone, Yellow Solstice, and Blue Solstice raw clay products.

For our Earth 'n' Sea products, use this care information where applicable.

raw powder clay
  • Never use metal containers or metal utensils to store or handle the clay (it is thought to lose beneficial qualities). Use wooden, glass or ceramic containers for storage for something to scoop and mix your clay.

  • Keep clay dry. Store in a dark, cool place, in a sealed container.

  • Test the clay on a patch of your skin to see how your skin reacts. Redness may occur, that is typical and should reduce/disappear after about 30 minutes, depending on the sensitivity of your skin.

  • Apply a thin layer to skin and leave on for 10-15 minutes.

  • Do not let the clay dry completely once you have applied it. Try to rinse it off before it starts to reach the cracked stage. You can try misting your face in order to keep the clay wet for longer.

  • Rinse off the clay with clean, warm water (never hot) and gently pat your skin dry. After, you can use a moisturizer or toner, such as coconut oil or apple cider vinegar, if you wish.

  • Do not apply the clay daily, try for 2-3 times a week. Overuse of the clay may cause your skin to dry out.

  • External use only.
